April Avey: grant writer / copywriter / Consultant
Welcome to AWS. April Avey is a freelance grant writer with a history of procuring new funders for emerging and established organizations. She is also a marketing content writer with a record of increasing revenue through targeted promotions.
April relocated to Bainbridge Island, Washington from California’s Bay Area in 2009 and works with clients in both states. She has been a member of the Puget Sound Grantwriters Association and has secured funding from federal, city, civic, corporate, and private agencies. As a grant writer, her niche is wellness, cultural centers, music, theatre, arts education, services for at-risk youth, and human trafficking.
April spent six years working in the medical laser industry before switching to nonprofit. Over the past twenty years she has served as director of marketing and sales; sponsorships and promotions manager; marketing consultant; and grant writer for professional arts organizations. She is currently serving as part-time contract executive director for Raising Resilience on Bainbridge Island. Her client base for her marketing content services includes nonprofits, wellness professionals, small tech companies, and solopreneurs. She is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Arts Academy in New York.
